Dochula

Dochula Pass is a stunning mountain pass located at an elevation of 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) on the road between Thimphu and Punakha in Bhutan. It is famous for its panoramic views of the Himalayas and the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens (stupas) built in memory of Bhutanese soldiers who died in a 2003 military operation.

The pass is surrounded by lush forests of rhododendrons and magnolias, which bloom vibrantly in spring. On clear days, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. Nearby is the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, a temple showcasing unique murals that celebrate Bhutan’s monarchy and cultural heritage.

Dochula Pass is not only a place of natural beauty but also a site of deep cultural and spiritual significance, often visited by both locals and tourists for its serenity and grandeur.
